The Lake Fork Anglers 20th tournament of 2016 was Thursday Oct 6 out of Oak Ridge Marina. Next tournament is Oct 20th.

Registration will start at 6 AM and end at 6:30 Am. Fishing starts at 7 AM and runs until 3 PM ....

Anglers may go out of any ramp they want too.

Results from Oct 6:

Club members caught 191 bass total on a cloudy morning that turned into a pretty darn windy day by 10 AM. The air temps did get pretty warm after 11 AM.

There were a lot of fish caught mainly on C- rigs, T-rigs, crank baits, top waters and drop shots. Same old story but it is true. The top water bite was not on for all except our 2nd place team.

1st place went to Steve Chick of Yantis with 16 fish for 12.4 with the 5.35 lunker of the day..
We only count the five largest.
2nd place went to Jack White of Yantis with 8 fish for 9.98 and a 3.64 lunker.
3rd place went to Bill Ailes of Sulphur Springs with 13 fish for 8.7 pounds and a 4.35 lunker.
4th place went to Jim DeVore of Quitman with 8 fish for 8.67 and a 4.25 lunker
5th place went to Bruce Allen of Emory with 5 fish for 8.62 with a 3.64 lunker.
6th place went to Bob Roberts of Long View with 14 fish for 8.56 with a 2.81 lunker.

We paid 5 places and had 29 anglers fishing and caught 191 fish. We have had problems coming up with nearly any slots until this tournament. Only one angler skunked in this today. It is Lake Fork

How are those weights even possible. Because we measure and release, and record on a laminated sheet.

Cheryl Allen of Emory had her best outing in quite some time catching 10 bass for 6.47 with a 1.66 lunker
Ike Brewer of Emory broke his club personal best bag with 4.33 and a 3.02 lunker.
Steve Chick of Yantis broke his 2016 bag with a 12.4
New members Robert Gaylor of Quitman caught a club personal best lunker of 4.35 and bag of 7.22 and came in 8th.,
Greg Watson of Yantis broke his club personal best with a 7.28 bag and a 2.48 lunker

Way to goes guys!

The LFA fishes every other Thursday daytime at Lake Fork only. Persons interested in joining or fishing as a guest should e-mail me at [email protected].

Here is your opportunity to fish with friendly knowledgeable Lake Fork anglers for the cost of a $5 annual dues and a $13 entry fee. Slot fish count. No teams. We are currently at below cap and are looking for a some boaters who will also fill in as co-anglers if needed and we will also accept "guests" who generally get to fish when regular members are away.
Actually none of our guests has sat one out as yet. And we are also looking for co-anglers.

Sometimes Fork is a big question mark. But even though we don't always slay them a few will find them. This week more than a few slayed them

Fishing Report from TPWD (Mar. 27)

GOOD. Water Stained; 60 degrees; 0.28 feet below pool. Bass fishing has been slow due to the fluctuating weather patterns. The best bite has been on frogs behind the grass and Texas rigs in front of the grass. Yum dingers are good around flooded grass in 1-3 feet deadsticking rigged wacky worms. Report by Marc Mitchell, Lake Fork Guide Service. Bass have moved up and are nesting, small crawfish patterns will work well. Frog pattern top waters are excellent in the grass and brush. Crappie are shallow, small fish patterns like wooly buggers are a good bet. Bream are beginning to make themselves known in the shallows, wooly buggars and small poppers should bring a strike.Report by Guide Alex Guthrie, Fly Fish Fork Guide Service. Crappie fishing has been up and down and all over the place this past week. Patterns are not just changing weekly or daily but sometimes hourly. Fish can be in water deeper than 30 feet, or as shallow as 1 foot. Seeing fish around grass, around timber, under bridges, under docks and on ledges. There are very few fish on brush piles and lay downs. Finding fish all over the bridge in the morning then gone that afternoon. The cold fronts and winds have really made finding patterns that will hold up difficult. Not seeing very many fish spawned out yet, so we should have shallow fish for the next months. The bite when you do find fish, and they do not run, is good on small hand ties, minnows, soft plastics. The catfish bite continues to be red hot in 12-18 feet of water around trees that have birds roosting overnight. We should see fish showing back up around trees along creek channels in 18-25 feet of water as well. Bait the area with cattle cubes or sour grain to get the catfish loaded up. Any prepared catfish bait works great and we have been having great trips using punch bait. Report by Jacky Wiggins, Jacky Wiggins Guide Service.
