What a windy week! The winds switched from the west to the south and south east. The wind gusted to over 30 miles an hour with 2 to 3 foot rollers at times. The water temperatures rose to over 70 degrees is some parts of the lake. The Bass were temperamental to say the least. With all that being said, the patterns did not change. The bulk of our fish were caught on the Lake Fork Trophy Lures 5 inch Hyper Stick, split shot rigged. The best color was still green pumpkin/red. The water is clearing up in some areas in the lake, that means you need to go to the watermelon/red in those areas. A few fish can still be caught by throwing a watermelon/red Zoom Brush Hog in or around the bedding fish. With the spawn being over in the North end of the lake, the crank bait bite has started. Some really quality Bass are being caught in 12 to 14 foot of water on pearl and blue medium running crank baits. Yes the Crappie bite is still on. Numerous great Crappies are being caught in three to four foot of water around large stumps. The bait of choice is still medium minnows. The White Bass are still in the creeks bulking up on minnows getting ready to spawn. My clients and I caught several nice White Bass on the Rapala Suspending Huskie Jerks. They really pound it. The Catfish fishing was also very good this week when you could stay out on the baited holes. Punch bait and cut liver were the baits of choice. The best death was 12 to 16 feet. There are a few Catfish moving up and getting ready to spawn.
