With the spring season now over and the hotter days of summer now upon us, I look back and think, what a May we just had for catching big bass!!! We have not had a post spawn like the one we just experienced in a long time. I lost count of the number of bass between 5 and 9 lbs we caught in the month of May alone. And to top it off, the Toyota bass tournament held in May, set a new world record for the heaviest 3 day string which was 110 lbs. (5 bass per day for 3 days) That tells me that our lake is tops in the nation for big bass!!
I look forward to our fall season which should be strong as it normally is and everyone needs to be really thinking about the 2015 spring season and the dates you want to come to the lake at try for one of those big bass. I am already booking spring dates so need to consider getting your date reserved as soon as you can. Email me [email protected] and I can tell you what dates are already taken for 2015.
The spring crappie bite was been really good in the month of June with many big crappie being caught out of my brush piles. If you want a good mess of crappie to eat, need to set up your trip soon and get in on the good fishing going on right now. I furnish everything for your trip just come get in the boat and go fishing. Best depth has been 17-22 ft and so far, minnows has been the best bait. But I look for the jig bite to start any time.
As the lake continues to warm up, the schooling action should get started in July and run into the fall. Spooks, chrome rattletraps and swim baits will catch their share of the schooling bass on the lower end of the lake.
As for the crappie jigs and minnows will be the best baits and the brush piles will hold the most fish.
