The winds continued to plague us. The winds were 15 to 30 miles an hour and the air temperatures were 40 to 65 degrees. The water temperatures dropped 5 to 10 degrees. The water is now stained all over the lake. The Bass fishing was fair using 3/8 ounce white spinner baits, Strike King chartreuse KVD 1. 5 crank baits and black/blue jigs. The jig bite was very light, so be a line watcher. If the line moves-- be setting the hook. The Toyota Sharelunker Program is over for this season. Lake Fork was once again at the top of the lunker list. Lake Fork had 4 fish put into the program. It was topped out with a 16.04 pound Bass to be followed by a 15.02 pound, 14.06 pound and finally a 13.11pounder. The yearly average for Lake Fork was up from 13.8 pounds to 14.55 pounds for the program. Great year for Lake Fork!
Well the Crappie are moving back out of the creeks and relating to small main point humps with
structure on them. Small crappie jigs tipped with small minnows in 16 to 20 feet of water is the ticket
right now. You might want to pick some chartreuse/pink Crappie jigs on the way to the lake, (hint -
hint).
The White Bass are moving out of the creeks also. They are relating to deep water humps and old road
beds. The 1/2 ounce, barr fish color flutter spoon is working the best. They do not want a fast movement of the spoon. Very slow jigging motion works the best.
The guys and gals trying to Catfish this week had a really tuff time staying on the lake due to the
winds. Not too many Catfish were being caught, except by the guys who were Bass fishing with small
crankbaits. They caught several a day on the chartreuse KVD 1.5.
