Hello bass fishing friends, check out the below video to see which crankbait retrieve I like best during the spawn. For those of you who have never burned shallow crankbaits, this is a great technique to add into your spring fishing arsenal. During the spawn the bite can be a bit tricky in the shallows, as bass can be more focused on spawning than eating. This can be especially true here at Lake Fork. The speed cranking retrieve triggers a reaction bite and often works when many other techniques fail to get noticed. Shallow spawning and post-spawn bass react out of instinct as a fast moving bait is reeled in front of them. This speed cranking retrieve also allows you to make more casts during the day, and is a great way to locate active fishing areas. This technique can be a numbers game, you can have 3 days worth of casts into one day if you stick it out with this fast moving retrieve. Try this technique next time you hit the water and hang on! Thanks for watching, and for all the great feedback.
