Hey Everyone! I hope the fishing has been good for you guys. I know its been a little tough some days but I'm here to share some friendly advice on what's been working for me lately and a few tricks I use.
The fish right now are a little all over the place; post spawn, pre-spawn and staging fish. The tough part is these bass are moving around so much that it's hard to time them just right. So let's think about this, if the bass are moving around this much, what are you doing? I don't know about you guys and gals but I try and move around as much as they do. For example..... last week all my guide trips were very different! We caught them all over the lake and not one fish was the same as the next! We caught deep crank bait fish, C-Rig fish, some staging fish on secondary points with square bill crank baits and even hung an 8lber on a bed but one thing Im starting to see are a lot more of are schools of bass off shore. The big trick folks is move around! Dont stay on a spot too long waiting for something to happen. If you dont get bit keep on moving. If you have found an area that you are confident holds fish, you may want to go back and check on it later through out the day. Just cause they didn't bite doesn't mean they want bite later!! If you are on a guide trip with me, I promise there are certain areas I will travel too multiple times through out the day because the fish are moving around so much. It may be that she was home and didnt bite or perhaps she just hasn't got there yet!
I'll tell you all straight, Livingston Lure Crank baits have been the hot ticket this spring. Specifically the Dive Master 20 in bluetreuse shad and the Prymetime square bill. Really anything that resembles a shad will almost certainly get you a bite! Go have fun, fish with confidence and be ready for when she bites cause she's probably going to be big!! Remember where your fishing right?? Lake Fork baby!!!
I have some days available in May for those interested in a guide trip. Perhaps you want to learn a little about pattern fishing or a technique. I can help you out with all of it and set you up for a chance to hook a a Lake Fork monster! Give us a call to get your spot booked!
I hope this article has helped. Remember its just fishing, so go have fun and set the hook!!
