The hot July weather is here. The water temperatures were pretty stable at 85 to 86 degrees and the water is still stained due to the south/southwest winds. The Bass fishing is fair to good with the early morning and late evening bite being the best. The top water bite has really slowed down so start with a worm early. The best bite this week was still the wacky rigged Zoom trick worm in the willow trees. June bug and chartreuse/pumpkin were the best colors to use. The Carolina rig also worked in the creeks on any little sub-point. I still used the Zoom watermelon/red Baby Brush Hog on my Carolina rig. Equipment choices this week were Duckett rods and ABU Garcia reels. The Reels were lined with Original Stren 17 pound Clear Blue Florissant line.
The White Bass have also slowed down a little this week. A few good magnum White Bass were being taken on Joe Spaits 4 inch silver flutter spoons in 24 to 28 foot of water. The evening bite is the best.
The Crappie fishing was still slow this week. The single minnow rig worked the best in 22 to 24 foot of water over brush piles.
The Catfish still had the feed bag on. Punch bait was the bait of choice in 29 to 32 foot of water around baited trees.
Lake Fork Marina has a great selection of Strike King XD10 and XD6’s crankbaits. They also have a full cooler of water to keep you hydrated on these hot summer days. “Stay Hydrated”!
I still have several openings this summer for guided Bass, White Bass and Crappie trips. Give us a call at (903) 413-6919 or E-mail us at [email protected]. Remember this is a great time to take a kid fishing. Have a great fishing week.
