It was a beautiful week here at Lake Fork TX. The water temperatures warmed up to 63 to 68 degrees and the water clarity started to improve. With that being said, the Bass moved in and started to spawn on Wednesday. A steady stream of fish continues to come in every day. The watermelon/red Zoom Fluke bite was good all week due to the numbers of Bass coming into spawn. I rigged the fluke on a split shot rig, works great! The 8-inch Zoom chartreuse/pumpkin Lizard bite did slow down a little but we still caught several good quality fish on it. Make sure you match your sinker weight color to the color of lizard that you are using and bring good polarized glasses with to see these Lake Fork lunkers. On our equipment list this week I used Duckett rods, ABU Garcia Orra SX reels, Stren original line, and Zoom lizards and flukes.
The White Bass are still in the creeks trying to spawn. Follow the birds and you will find large balls of shad and that is where you will find the White Bass. You can use chrome, Joe Spaits Flashtail ½-ounce spoon to catch them.
The Crappie fishing was really good this week. Large numbers of Crappie limits were brought into the cleaning station. Remember there is a 10-inch minimum length on the Crappie here at Lake Fork. The Crappie was being caught on numerous colors of jigs and minnows. Have fun!
The Catfish fishing was still a little slow. A few Catfish can be found shallow water and can be caught on minnows. The rest of them are in the transition depths of 8 to 14 feet and can be caught on minnows and punch bait.
Lake Fork Marina is continuing to get new tackle, and clothes in the all-new renovated shop. They also have a good supply of minnows for the Crappie anglers. While you are there check out the Duckett rods and Garcia reels.
