Fall has arrived here at Lake Fork. The cool nights have started the water temperatures down under the 78 degree mark and the water clarity is still stained. The Bass fishing has picked up this week with Bass being caught on Carolina rigs, trick worms and small crankbaits. I continued to use the 4 inch Tightline UV green hog on my Carolina rig and a Zoom Chartreuse/pumpkin Trick worm rigged wacky style on my wacky rig. The Strike King 1.5 square bill crankbait (natural shad) worked good to locate and catch fish. We continued to use Duckett Rods and ABU Garcia reels with Stren 17 pound test line as our tackle of choice this week.
White Bass and Yellow Bass fishing remained fair this week. I did notice more and more White Bass schooling this week. Keep a chrome and black rattle trap handy to use on schoolers. The straight minnow worked good in 24 foot of water over brush piles and around the 515 West bridge.
The Crappie fishing picked up a little this week. A lot of small Crappie are still being caught. Use a chartreuse 1/8 ounce Crappie jig in 12 to 24 foot of water around the bridges and over brush piles.
No catfish report this week.
The Berkley tournament is in two weeks. Lake Fork Marina has a large supply of Berkley products ranging from worms to crankbaits in stock. You need to stop in get a good selection of Berkley baits to get you through the two day tournament. See you there!
