Lake Fork

Because Life is Better at the Lake

Lake Fork Report 2/22/2019

Lake Fork Guide, Eric Wright
My name is Eric Wright, I am a professional tournament angler and licensed full-time guide working on Lake Fork.

I would like to thank everyone who has come out so far this season for a guide trip and hope you know how much I appreciate the opportunity to share what Lake Fork has to offer. I am excited about this year as Lake Fork is setting up just right. When the weather lets us get out on the water we’ve seen some good fish caught and during the very few warm stretches we’ve had this month the numbers have been very good also.

Early in February we experienced a few warm days and had some incredible fishing. It’s typical this time of year to be able to head to the backs of creeks and find a good number of fish after the water temperature warms up. It’s also typical this time of year for cold fronts and rain to come in and I find myself back out on the main lake. If I was coming to Lake Fork and planned on fishing main lake, I would bring these two baits:

  • Jerkbait (Rick Clunn)

  • 300 Bandit Crankbait.

As we get closer to March, I will be spending most of my time back in the creeks looking for the warmest water possible. I will have my clients fishing in 3 to 6 ft next to creeks leading to drains and spawning flats. So far this season my best shallow water baits have been:

  • Owner Flashy Underspin (little dipper)

  • Texas rig

  • Chatterbait 3/8 oz

Here are a few pictures from this month. If you’d like to see the rest, please visit my Facebook and Instagram pages. These are great places to follow me as I post often and keep my clients updated on fishing conditions. I do have some available dates in the spring and would love to have you out. If you have any questions about me or my guide business, please feel free to call me directly.

Thanks, Eric Wright 972 757 7947
