It was a good week to fish beautiful Lake Fork. The north east winds prevailed
and water temperatures dropped 2 more degrees in the mornings. The water
clarity is still stained in the upper creeks and in beautiful shape for Bass fishing in
the main lake. It was all about the wacky worm and grass and Lilly Pads this
week. We fished the Zoom chartreuse/pepper 6 ½ Trick Worm rigged wacky style
with a nail in the head of it. The trick of it is, you can not fish it slow enough! We
also picked a few fish up by using a Strike King KVD 1.5 in the gizzard shad pattern
right a daylight to about 8:00PM. We fished it parallel to Lily Pad fields and weed
lines.
The Crappie fishing is still slow. The two jigs that were working were the Bubba’s
Bait chartreuse 1/16-ounce jig in the upper creeks and the Bubba’s Bait 1/8-ounce
white with an orange tail in the main lake. We found that the fish in the main lake
on deep brush piles needed the jig tipped with a minnow.
The Catfish anglers were continuing to have fun fishing deep brush piles using
minnows and punch bait. This week it is noted that Punch bait was on the top of
the Catfish menu.
Now that the Big Bass Splash is over, we get ready for the Berkley tournament
and some really good Fall Bass fishing. Have a safe fishing week.
