Results from Sep 1r:

Club members caught 170 bass total on a beautiful morning that turned a little windy in the afternoon. The air temps did get pretty warm after 10 AM.

There were a lot of fish caught mainly on C- rigs, T-rigs, crankbaits and drop shots. Same old story but it is true. The top water bite was not on. But a few were caught on frogs.

For the first time this year the lunker of the day was not a 7 lber. 170 bass were caught by 31 anglers with 3 skunks. The little bass were just unreal. Lot's of fun but finding anything decent was few and far between.

1st place went to Chuck Roy of Yantis with 18 fish for 9.92 and a 2.18 lunker.
We only count the five largest.
2nd place went to Brian Dick of Alba also with 18 fish for 8.94 and the 2.07 lunker.
3rd place went to Jerry Krone of hawkins with 3 fish for 8.3 pounds and a 3.81 lunker.
4th place went to Randy Steele of Sulphur Springs with 10 fish for 7.47 and the 3.02 lunker
5th place went to Stan Norton of Emory with 8 fish for 6.94 with a 1.35 lunker.
6th place went to Jeff Wilkerson of Yantis with 9 fish for 6.68 with the 3.98 lunker of the day..

We paid 6 places and had 31 anglers fishing and caught 170 fish and MOST of them were not quality slots. Only three anglers skunked in this tournament. Some had a lot of success while had none. It is Lake Fork

How are those weights even possible. Because we measure and release, and record on a laminated sheet.

The LFA fishes every other Thursday daytime at Lake Fork only. Persons interested in joining or fishing as a guest should e-mail me at [email protected].

Here is your opportunity to fish with friendly knowledgeable Lake Fork anglers for the cost of a $5 annual dues and a $13 entry fee. Slot fish count. No teams. We are currently at below cap and are looking for a some boaters who will also fill in as co-anglers if needed and we will also accept "guests" who generally get to fish when regular members are away.
Actually none of our guests has sat one out as yet. And we are also looking for co-anglers.

Sometimes Fork is a big question mark. But even though we don't always slay them a few will find them. This week more than a few slayed them

Lake Fork

Fishing Report from TPWD (May 1)

GOOD. Water Stained; 60 degrees; 0.67 feet above pool. Lake Fork flood gates are open which can make the bite tough. The best bite has been on shaky heads and Carolina rigs on main lake points and secondary points in 5-8 feet of water. Squarebill crankbaits are catching a few in the same areas. Frog bite is slow over flooded grass. Yum dingers are fair at the edge of the grass 2-4 feet. Report by Marc Mitchell, Lake Fork Guide Service. Report by Guide Alex Guthrie, Fly Fish Fork Guide Service. The crappie fishing on Lake Fork has been great this week if you find the right areas and patterns to fish. The spawn is coming to an end and the black crappie are beginning to load up on certain bridges and docks. If you search you can find some big schools of keeper size black crappie. We have had to battle heavy rains, terrible winds and even thunderstorms lately a lot. Hopefully we will see more stable weather conditions over the next few weeks. You can still find some larger white crappie on timber in 10-22ft. Also seeing some white crappie loading up on certain brush in some areas close to where they spawned. Jigs and minnows are both producing well right now and should stay the same until around June or July. Catfishing is still hot on Lake Fork. Baited holes in 12-20ft along creek channels are doing great for channel cats. Use cattle cubes or sour grain to get them to hold in one spot. Then use any prepared catfish bait or cut shad to load the boat with eater sized catfish. Report by Jacky Wiggins, Jacky Wiggins Guide Service.
