Lake Fork Anglers twice monthly Thursday daytime tournament for Sept 28 and the fish are biting with lots of slots showing up. Drop shots, square bill, c-rigs and t-rigs caught the most fish. The weather was good but still hot. Ever hear of a Whopper Plopper. Ask Don Cox how that works on a 6.64.

Only the five largest count:

First Place Angler went to Bob Roberts of Longview with a 13 keeper fish culled to a 5 fish bag of 10.16 anchored by the 3.02lunker.
Second place went to Curt Blount of Lake Fork with 7 fish coming in at 9.59 with a 2.88 lunker.
Third place went to Tim Gold of Mineola with 7 fish at 8.78 lb with a 2.74 lunker.
Fourth place went to Dennis Bubinas with a 12 fish bag at 7.74 with a 1.87 lunker
Fifth place went to Mark Talley of Quitman with 4 bass for 5.03 with a 1.87 lunker.

Co-Anglers

First place went to Don Cox of Garland with a 2 fish bag for 7.93 with the 6.64 lunker
Second place went to Chuck Roy of Yantis with 7 bass for 7.39 lb with a 2.02 lunker..
Third place went to John Markos of Paris with 4 bass for 6.82 lb with a 3.31 lunker.
Fourth place went to Paul Spann of Royce City with 7 fish for 6.34 lb with a 1.72 lunker.
Fifth place went to Tom Whitrock of Lake Fork with 5 bass for 5.22 with a 1.45 lunker.


Fishing has improving with the cooler weather and the lake coming up an inch or or two and the fish starting to school fall is on the way early. 113 total fish were caught on Thursday.

Dues is $5 a year. Tournaments are $12 with an optional $5 lunker pot and an optional $10 big bag pot.
In 2016 the LFA fished 25 times, You have to fish at least 8 to maintain membership. And you have to fish 8 times to be eligible to fish our other two formats: Major league Fishing (known as Hard Core) and the team format known as Faze 4.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Sep. 10)

GOOD. Water cloudy to clear; 85-90 degrees; 0.91 feet below pool. Early and late bass topwater bite around grasslines and isolated cover on main lake and secondary points. Try frog and mouse patterns for topwater. Bass are beginning to school, a hard-bodied popper should work well. Bream are shallow, try small hoppers.
