Lake Fork Anglers Results from June 10

Following up last weeks Hard Core Tournament (MLF format) which was a total blowout for that format the LFA 5 fish limit is almost twice as good. The bass are finally catching up to where they were supposed to be at the end of May. As usual not for everyone however.

All fish 10" and up are keepers. Only the best 5 count.

  5. Fifth Place went to Bill Pigg of Allen  with 8 bass for 9.47 LB with a 3.62 LB lunker.

We caught 153 keepers today with 1 angler skunking. The first time I have seen it where the best 5 boaters were all in double digits and the best 5 co-anglers were almost the same. There was a bunch of big slots caught and even more hooked and escaped the landing net if you believe the angle's tales.

The LFA fishes every Thursday except T-Day and Christmas on 2 different formats. A 5 fish limit we call LFA and a MLF style format where every fish counts we call Hard Core, 3 special tournaments and an end of year dinner. We are a club of 54+ seniors (Mostly) and are very liberal on members being for off vacations and medical issues. Even though we are practicing social distancing and wearing masks, we have about 16 sitting out from Covid exposure.

Right now we are looking for more boaters, who fish for free. For information e-mail me at [email protected]. Call 903-440-2797 You can check out our website at www.bassfin.com/

Fishing Report from TPWD (Jul. 2)

GOOD. Water Stained; 82 degrees; 0.10 feet above pool. Bass are good early morning around grass with frogs, buzz baits and poppers. The offshore bite is best right now with fish coming from 12-25 feet on humps, ridges, road beds and points with Carolina rigs, flukes, big worms, Texas rigs and big crankbaits. Report by Marc Mitchell, Lake Fork Guide Service. Lily fields are filling in, hydrilla and milfoil are reaching for the surface. Fish this type of cover at midday when bass are seeking cover. Frog patterns are working in the shallow vegetation early and late. Drop a clouser on an isolated cover for black bass. Large bream have moved shallow, wooly buggers are producing good fish. Channel catfish are cruising 2-4 feet, clousers are a good choice. Report by Guide Alex Guthrie, Fly Fish Fork Guide Service. Lake Fork crappie fishing is improving as we enter the summer pattern. Loads of small fish under 10 inches are still being caught daily, but a lot more large fish are stacking up on brush piles, tire reefs, artificial structures and the base of trees. You can still find some fish on bridges, underwater bridges and road beds in 16-26 feet. Minnows, small hand ties and soft plastics are all working. Report by Jacky Wiggins, Jacky Wiggins Guide Service. Anticipate increased boater traffic this weekend as we celebrate our Nation’s Independence Day.
