The hot weather continues and the water temperatures continue to be 88 to 90 degrees. The lake is trying to turn over which means the water clarity is stained. The Bass bite remained pretty constant and good fish were being caught all over the lake. We found the baits of choice for Bass still have not changed much over the last two to three weeks. We did however catch some good quality fish on a 3/16 ounce shaky head jigs with a watermelon candy Baby Brush Hog and as the water clarity got more stained we changed the Baby brush Hog color to green pumpkin and dyed the tails chartreuse. We also found 4 to 12 foot of water was a good water depth to start in from daylight to around 8:00 AM. Around 8:00 AM we moved into water depths of 26 to 32 feet of water using a Carolina rigged Baby Brush Hog and you guessed it, Tim Spaits chrome and chartreuse Flutter Spoon. Once again the trick of catching the Largemouth Bass is keeping the spoon near the bottom. If you don't you will be catching White Bass all day long. The Crappie fishing continued to be slow this week. I blamed two things; one, was the warm water temperatures and second, was the lake starting to turn over. The bridge of choice was the 515 east, this week. Small chartreuse/pink Crappie jigs tipped with minnows were the best bait for the week. The White Bass were still eating Joe Spaits chrome/chartreuse flutter spoon as soon as you put it in the water. The best water depth was 28 to 32 foot of water on sharp main lake points and around the two 515 bridges. The Bream bite remained really good this week. Crickets were still on top of their menu. The kid's summer vacation is about over, so hurry and "take a child fishing". Lake Fork Marina has plenty of crickets and minnows to feed those large Lake Fork Crappie and Bream. They also have a great selection of Strike King Crankbaits and Joe Spaits spoons. Stop in and stock up on the latest tackle and don't forget to pick up lots of water to stay hydrated with.
