LAKE FORK REPORT
Lake level as of this post is currently 402.39 and the temps in mid-low 70's to mid-low 80's. We're still catching a few out deeper, Carolina rigs & drop shots but I am I am spending the majority of my time in the backs of the creeks (1-3 foot) chasing shad.
I am throwing several small profile baits in shallow water (1-3 foot) right now to match the shad and going as far back as I can in the creeks to fish the grass. The main reason I change baits is to switch up the presentation.
Limit Getter Spinnerbaits
Weightless Fluke ( Mardi Gras)
Square Bill 1.0 (Tennesses Shad.)This bait allows me to cover a lot of water in the creek channels and around the grass.
Speed Worm set up on a 1/8 oz (watermelon) (green pumpkin)You'll want to swim this bait around thick cover.
Wacky Worm Zoom finesse (watermelon gold) -This bait I am using to throw directly in the thick stuff and off in the creeks.
Zara Puppy - I'm throwing this one early in the morning in the same areas.
These are the baits I've been throwing and we are catching 16-30+ fish a day. We've had some good fish but we're not catching a lot of monsters. The way the lake is setting up I am confident we soon will be. If y'all are coming out to fish the Berkley Tournament (Oct 21-22) this report will give you a head star.
If you are looking to come out for a guided trip I would love to have y'all. Whether you are a first time angler or seasoned professional my goal is to work hard and help y'all have a great day on the water.
