September Meeting of The Well Armed Woman

The September meeting of the Lake Fork Chapter of The Well Armed Woman had 21 ladies dodging thunderstorms and rain.  The range was closed due to lightening but the fundamentals continued indoors.   Tables were set up as shooting lines and targets were taped to the wall.  Short scenarios were practiced to see how directions could be followed.  Several learned they needed more practice in simply following directions.  It was a fun exercise to say the least.

The evening program continued…the NRA Winchester Challenge was covered in detail.  Target scoring was explained and handouts of each of the rockers that could be earned was further explained.  A large chart was introduced to show the levels and rockers each has earned.  This not only gives incentive for each to work harder it gives a sense of accomplishment when the rockers are received.  One member is working hard to show her son-in-law that she really is an Annie Oakley!

Please join us next month (October 6th) for a holster program.  You will be able to see firsthand what holster is best for you.  Non-members are welcome but you will need to be a member before you can shoot…it’s an insurance requirement. We shoot at 4pm and our meeting will begin at 6pm.  For more information contact  Peggy York, Lake Fork Chapter Leader at 903-473-2185.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Sep. 17)

GOOD. Water cloudy to clear; 85 degrees; 1.09 feet below pool. Starting to see some turnover in the backs of pockets after the last cool spell. Bass are good on the main lake early in the day with topwaters, chatterbaits and square bill crankbaits until the midday sun. Texas rigs and shaky heads are good around docks and timber in 5-7 feet of water. Carolina rigs are fair on big points with fluke type baits and 7 inch worms in 12-17 feet of water. Deep crankbaits are fair over the ends of deep points and road beds. Report by Marc Mitchell, Mitchell's Guide Service.
